All I can tell you is that I ended up fiddling around in the BIOS to get it working. Can't remember what I did though, sorry

Sorry for the delay.

It's a fairly old Gigabyte GA-Z77N

Thanks. That is odd as that is the same board my mate has but it won't work. Software says unsupported usb and then no joy

Make sure the actual Intel USB 3.0 drivers are installed. (Downloaded from the Intel website)

Oh, and make sure the PSU is definitely connected properly (and working). If not, then it detects the device OK, but dies when you try and use it.

Screen is here and its very nice, back of a fag packet diagram done, i'm off to the local wood place tomorrow who will cut out the mdf to make the case, just waiting for some other bits (buttons, usb controller, flight case corners, pop rivet gun) to arrive, i'm hoping to get it done by Sunday, I will post some piccys as I progress.

The base is done, I forgot how cheap our local wood place is, £7.98 cut to size, bargain ! I have gone for a 10 degree angle, seems to work best for this setup. Just waiting for various bits and bobs to arrive before I continue.

I decided to build a pc into it rather than connecting it to my laptop so its taking a while longer while i wait for parts etc.... Mike do you play pinball fx3 ? if so what do you use to configure the arcade controls ? I still cant believe they dont support arcade mode and only x-box controllers etc.. but offer a cabinet mode to configure screens.... I played about with X360ce today although one flipper is pausing the game, im sure I will get there eventually...... I will post some piccys tomorrow of where im at so far.
