My daughter of 12 has had an iPhone in the past but now has a sony compact. She has asked for a new phone for Christmas but wants an iPhone. Looking at the prices they are expensive for what they are. I have seen the blackview A60 pro that looks really nice and sleek and good specs. Would this be better than and iPhone 6/7? Price wise it’s great.
if anyone can give me some recommendations.
Thanks

What is your budget though :-D

Your criteria and her criteria of "better" may differ.

Also as someone who has only ever owned Android smartphones, Apple has one distinct advantage over the Google based system:

I Don’t really have a budget but would be happy to obviously pay less for a better phone. She wants a nice looking phone that is modern. When her old iPhone broke and she got the Sony phone from her mums bf she said it was better than her iPhone and she loved it but now it’s broke or slow she wants an iPhone again. Her older sister has an iPhone 6 and she’s happy with that. Is the blackview A60 pro any good compared to that?

Depends what "slow" means? Prev / current phone cannot handle the apps or else it is internet based slowness which is influenced by the network 4G speed as much as the phone spec

iPhone se. Compact and does everything a 12 year old needs a phone to do. (YouTube, photos, etc)

Can also get them in a variety of colours which a 12 year old would no doubt appreciate

Think you can pick up for £200 ish

iphone se has a tiny screen.

its poor value for.money

id get the Xiaomi redmi note 7 or 8.. it has a higher spec than the iphone se.. bigger battery, bigger screen, faster processor, much better cameras, looks.nicer with thinner bezels. headphone socket, ir blaster, probably more features than most 12 year olds will ever need, available in different colours. the 128gb version can be bought for below £170 brand new. the 64gb for under £140. takes micro sd card for extra memory, as its Xiaomi you'll get a really well made reliable phone with regular updates.

its probably better for the eyes to use a larger screen to watch videos rather than straining on a tiny screen.

I have bought phones for my tween/teen girls and if they want Apple it is very unlikely to be because they have researched the pro's and cons of operating systems, the technical specifications or value for money. The first Apple my kids have had was paid for 50% by them from birthday and Christmas money. They now have Samsung's also paid 50% by them.

If she has asked for Apple and you get a better spec'd, better performing, better value for money alternative she will be very grateful but rest assured she will still be pining for that shiny shiny Apple that advertising and hype has taught her is best because 'everything' is compared against the 'faux benchmark' Apple brand.
