I have followed my own rule about sequel films for years. Basically, if they can't come up with a more creative title than "Our-big-hit 2", not even bothering to add a unique subtitle, there will not be enough creativity in the film to deserve my time and dollars. This means I've seen many Star Trek films, but only one "Rocky". You get it.

Because I really enjoyed The Butterfly Effect, I broke my own rule. I was reminded of why I started following it to begin with. Where the original story had layers, depth and logic - a three-dimensional experience which seemed to be written by a real author, this sequel was flat, linear, almost insulting. A made-for-TV movie from the early 80's with extra gratuitous sex. I couldn't connect with the characters in any way. I found myself hoping they'd all drive off a cliff.
