Hi guys.

Just got a connect ID 46 and very happy at the mo.

Just a quick question as to whether anyone knows of a way (or Loewe product) that will allow me to control the Virgin Tivo box with a Loewe Remote Control. Has anyone done this?

I have the original UK TiVo and use a Logitech Harmony One with that and my Connect ID. I've used a Virgin TiVo at my Sister's, and the "peanuts" (remotes) are very similar, so it should map well onto the Harmony One's keys. I do find myself liking to use the Loewe's remote still though. Be prepared to have to spend a little time with a universal remote control learning the Connect ID's remote control codes - I had to with my Harmony One.

Congrats on your Connect ID set. There's owners and ex-owners lurking though we are thinner on the ground than other forums, so if you ask a question, it may take a few days for one of us to bob in and spot it.

Enjoy,
Tony.

After a lot of faffing around I'm pleased to say I have a replacement Connect ID on its way this afternoon. Fingers crossed there are no niggles with this one.

So far so good. Picture looks great and no bother changing inputs.
Still cannot get the Wi-Fi to connect to my router. Even tried to using my iPhone as a hotspot and still no joy.

The guys from TVRS asked if the old set has a weak panel. Now this isn't a term I have heard in association with TVs before but it sounds like an appropriate description. The screen on the new set seems to offer even better contrast. And that was viewing it in daylight.

Spoke too soon. Watching the football this evening revealed similar problems to the last set but with what looks like light bleeding in from the edges.

Time to see how they explain this.

Spoke to Loewe UK and they are sending out another set. Must be a duff batch of panels from Samsung as the flaws are in exactly the same places.

This is quite annoying as otherwise the TV is excellent. The sound is great and the picture very detailed and natural.

I'm seriously considering a 55 inch Connect ID, but have a few questions. Can anyone help with any of these?

1/   What's the off-axis viewing like?  The other half likes to watch TV  while doing the ironing, which necessarily puts her well off-axis.   Should be OK with the plasma I was previously considering,  but since the Loewe is LCD, will this be a  problem?  Doesn't need to be a perfect picture, but needs to be  viewable.

2/   Can it play .MKV video files from a network drive?

3/   It only has 3 HDMI connectors. I'll want to connect Sky HD box,  Bluray, Xbox and probably a media PC.  Any easy solution to this?  I see  you can get auto-switching HDMI combiners - do they work?

4/   The 3D glasses are £90 each (and none supplied). Are there any cheaper "universal" ones that could be used with it?

Thanks.

1. Off angle viewing is pretty good. I had a crowd in for the Superbowl and everyone could see fine even tucked into the corner of the room.

2. Don't think it plays .mkv files. And I don't have any to test it with.

3. I have a Monoprice switcher for my Xbox360s to share HDMI 3 which is set to Gaming Mode. And I have this item http://www.futureshop.co.uk/ixos-xht948-hdmi-1080p-4-to-1-switcher-with-ivec-booster-p-658.html#.UR-OyPYgHCQ
to connect my HD-DVD, BluTechVision3d and Apple TV to HDMI 2.

(I have a similar device from Pioneer which has 4 HDMI inputs and a built in scaler for analogue inputs going up for sale soon as well. )

4. If you are buying the TV from a Loewe dealer get them to include the glasses at trade price. Takes them down to £67 IIRC.
