I have just installed a pair of Zyxel Mini Powerline PLA 4201 adapters to provide a net connection to my new Philips Smart TV, which was at the limit of my wireless network. It sometimes would connect on wireless but more often would fail. The Powerline adapters work just fine but I am now getting horrendous interference on Freeview on my iMac, using a Terratec T2 DVB-T dongle, which make it totally unusable. We have two boosters in the system. One before the signal reaches the Satellite box from the roof top aerial and then a distribution amplifier after the satellite box, for the various aerial outlets around the house.

Any thoughts guys?

Help needed please

I currently have 4x Netgear HDX101 (200mb) powerline adapters with the DS2 chipset and Im looking at adding a Netgear XAVB5004 500mb 4 port switch kit in the network.
Can anyone tell me if these devices (HDX & XAV) can co exist with each other or will I need to upgrade all adapters to the new 500mb standard?

As no one seems to know the answer to my question above I have ordered a Netgear XAVB5004 Powerline 4-Port AV 500 Kit so I can test if the HDX are compatible.. will post up my results when test complete

My Sagem Sky router lives downstairs. As I have a limited WiFi signal upstairs I bought a WiFi repeater for the landing, but I guess as the signal is so weak up there it wasn't much of an improvement.

Therefore I've just purchased two develo 85 Mbps homePlugs. One which connects via ethernet to the router downstairs. The other lives on the landing upstairs in which I've plugged the WiFi repeater.

I was hoping this would create a 2nd access point but it appears the Sky router is no longer accessible, only the repeater, much to my family's horror!

Is it correct that only one access point is available to connect to? Also, there appears to be an issue with duplicate IP addresses on the network as all connected laptops receive the alert "one or more devices on your network has a duplicate IP address". The router is DHCP enabled as are the laptops. I'm thinking of assigning static IP addresses but i'm not sure if this will work. Any input is welcome.

Hope this helps anyone in a similar position to me when upgrading their powerline network.
Further to purchasing the Netgear XAV powerline adapter kit I can categorically tell you that they DO NOT CONNECT with the older HDX 200mb Netgear adapters.

So I've now got 4x HDX101's to sell

l I have a wifi extender but it shows up as a different connection in my network I have been running it for a year I do have static I p address assigned on my main router
The router and wifi extender are both made by netgear have never had a sky router I would definitely try and use static I p address I find it better to set it all up in the router

Thanks Lestat, I've began is assigning static IP reservations to the laptops and will do the same with the repeater and see how that goes.

Can you connect to your router when the repeater is switched on or only the repeater? I was hoping for the option to connect to both.

they show up as 2 different connection points on my devices

Just seen this deal on HUKD. £19.99 for a 2 plug powerline kit - Seems a bargain as I just need a basic one for my mums house.  Is it any good?

I have those (same deal a couple months back) and they work fine for me.  I am looking to upgrade to AV500 plugs though soon.
