Figured my issue out. Turns out it was the phone that was the problem, not the watch. I wasn't getting sound or vibration when notifications came through there either. I couldn't figure it out as all my settings in notifications were correct. Then I went to settings > sounds and noted that calendar sounds and vibration were set to none (although they had assigned sounds and vibration in the notifications menu) so I changed those settings and voila, it works.

I noticed that the duplicated calendar bug is still there though if I have settings to mirror my iPhone.

First real issue in 10 months of using the watch was yesterday, finding the screen had gone blank and refusing to turn on while out and about.  Eventually resorted to a hard reset by holding down digital crown and side button for some considerable time (well over a minute) before the Apple logo appeared... then seemed to take forever (2-3 minutes?) for it to turn back on.  Everything working as normal as if it had never happened.  No idea what caused it.  Updated to 2.2 last week.

Even the best machines have a glitch every now and again. My watch usually takes 2-3 minutes to turn on anyway. Just updating to 2.2 now. Anyone had any issues with this update?

Strange but same thing happened to my a few days after updating.
Had been solid before and since though so hoping it was just a post upgrade wobbly.

Anyone else unable to set custom notifications for calendars since iOS 2? I can't turn on any of the below options.

I just checked mine after reading your post and its the same. I found that if you change the option and come off the menu and when you go back its changed. Must be a software glitch

Try erasing all settings and restoring from the latest backup. That worked for me. I'm also having an issue where my notifications are delayed when going to my phone with the screen off and my watch is off too. It's as if the phone is looking for the watch, realises it's not there and sends the notification to the phone.

I don't have any issues other than calendar which I didn't realise until I saw your post. I think I will leave just in case I cause any other issues
