Ronnies not even trying. Missing simple pots. Not caring about position. Awful.

Another masterclass, I still wouldn't count Hawkins out, some people play better when there's almost nothing to lose, and he has come back to win matches from behind but again i think this is the Rockets, its amazing that he's only been 1 frame behind throughout this tournament, and then only once, and he's also not lost a session.

A sublime display.

A totally class display. Some great snooker from Hawkins but you felt that whatever he produced Ronnie always had another gear. Nice complimentary words from Ronnie too. Hawkins has had a great tournament. Not the most entertaining championship but very entertaining final.

ronnie will always be one of the best snooker players to have played the game, but his attitude to the game is awful, he shouldn't be allowed to just pick and choose what he plays and i think it's unfair on other players to have that attitude, while he may draw crowds in  i would rather he jacked the game in now or fully commit, not have this "i may retire or not" crap all over again, either do it or don't don't but don't make out you should have people falling over themselves  just to cater for your every needs.

he may have had personal problems in his life but he needs to decide whether snooker is part of his life and sticks to it or walk away for good, not pick and choose tournaments, how is this going to work out for next years world title, can he just 'decide' to defend it again without playing many tournaments? if so it just makes the sport look a joke.

why should he have to commit to play loads of inconsequential tournaments in China, just to play in the ones he actually values?

There aren't mandatory tournaments for tennis players, golfers etc.  If you've earned the right to play in a tournament through previous performances (e.g. the Masters), good on you.  The other players should feel they are at an advantage, as they are practised, whereas RO is not.

He is making a stand against the aggressive structure put into place.  The sport would lose more but not allowing him to play than it does by allowing him.

There are two strands to this.

Firstly he is not 20 any more. He has a family and life commitments. It's not necessarily a sporting question. Life happens and priorities change. Not exactly unique in toying with the idea of a career change / break or developing other interests.

Secondly his depression is well documented. Frankly - and sadly - there is still incredible ignorance out there. Not saying it is on AVF, but you can talk to people or go on other sites and there are morons who truly think if they cannot see a physical scar or something then mental illnesses are not real. It is like the Michael McIntyre bit in that do some expect disabled drivers to fall out and crawl along the floor to prove their entitlement to the premium parking spot.
