They are borderline. It did irritate me a lot how Rogan kept raving on about how he dropped his opponent "right on his head".

If he had dropped him right on his head he would have been punished. Spiking an opponent on their head or neck is illegal. Pichel landed more on his shoulder and back so they were acceptable but it was all down to how Pichel moved and tried to break his fall.

I also don't think it was the last slam that KO'd him, he was still conscious after the impact but the first or second punch put him out.

My missus pointed out that Sotiropolous looked like an old man too.  Shame.  I was such a fan of his technical ground game but he needs a new chin.

I watched the Dana White press scrum.  The utter contempt that he shows for journos is starting to get to me.  He should be a bit more respectful and also a bit more free with his information.  Without press coverage the UFC brand won't grow.  Does he always have to be such a bell?

Also:  Pat Barry's post-win interview with Rogan.  Brilliant!

Ok, so it is illegal to deliberately drop someone on their head?
In Judo a Suplex is called Ura-nage, but due to the rules in Judo competition, the intention is to land your opponent on their back like this BJA Technical Grading Syllabus and Learning Program - Mon 16 - URA-NAGE
Anything bordering shoulder, neck or head is immediate disqualification, and for good reason to.
As spectacular as I thought the throws were I believe there was intent to land the guy on his head and KO him. This could have easily lead to a broken neck and no one wants to see that.

George Sot's stand up isnt up to much either. I used to like his attacking BJJ game and thought he could have challeneged BJ for the title a few years ago but at 35 he isn't gonna get any better and his moobs are gonna end up on his flabby stomach before long.

Yup. Nate Marquardt was deducted a point for it against (I think) Thales Leites at (again I think) UFC 85. He dragged Leites out from a double leg attempt and power bombed him WWE style but he landed on his head/neck so he was docked a point. He also got docked a point for an illegal knee that wasn't actually illegal (hit the chest) and ended up losing due to the 2 lost points.

The suplexes the other night and the ones by McDonald on Nate Diaz last year were ok because of the angle. It's not a straight slam back onto the head and neck but more sideways onto the shoulder because of the way the "slammer" turns.

But Rogan should know better than to gloat about someone being slammed right on their head because A, he knows it's illegal and B, he clearly didn't land right on his head.

For a scary slam look no further than Kevin Randleman vs Fedor...

my thoughts exactly on both whilst watching the event.  ALthough i loved the suplex's they did look kinda neck breaking dangerous to me.  Re Smith yes id rather watch paint dry than him fight again he appears to lack any finishing skills at all.

I think we've all seen that one. I love the way Fedor still manages to break fall with his left arm just before his head hits the canvas
If I knew how to imbed GIF's on here I would post it

Yeah he tried to get the RNC the whole fight. He had the guy in turtle or flattened out a couple of times. Why not try an arm bar or reverse triangle from there.
