And you are absolutely entitled to your point of view.

I would possibly agree with you if this was 1912 rather than 2012.

The world has moved on, is moving on and internationalism is a fact of life that is reflected in sport.

I remember, a couple of years ago, when my Dad was looking to buy a new car. My Mum insisted he bought British.

So, does he buy a Jag - owned by an Indian company, or maybe a Honda - built in Britain.

Globalisation is here. Might as well get used to it.

Actually did read it, but I don't like to dignify outmoded ideas with too much interest

I don't think you're a racist/BNP (thought you do seem overly hung up on it), but you seem to be of the opinion that there is some homogenous white British race - which is tosh.  Celt, angle, Saxon, huguenot, black etc etc, we are all settlers, just some more recent than others

There are 5th gen (and much more) black British living here, should they not be able to compete?

He's not Somalian, he's Somali born.

Mo is British, and has said so proudly.

We might well consider his lean, athletic frame (typical of East African peoples), but do we really think he would have acheived his goals if he were raised in Somalia and not Britain? Forget it.  Somalia is amoung the worst places to live on Earth- its riddled with corruption, murder, civil war, religious fundamentalism, and cultural horrors.

I'm proud to consider Mo a countryman.

He also seems to have a very British humility

So, which part of his Olympic success did Somalia contribute?

More or less what I was trying to say, but you summed it up in one sentence .

If you don't want BNP type replies, don't post as though you're Nick Griffin.

Athletes aren't born winners, they're born with talent, its with development of that talent they turn into winners.

He may have been born in a different country, but he moved here as a young boy, and we turned him into a champion, not because we wanted to, but because he wanted to.

Why not represent the country you now call home?

To me, Mo is the face of UK sport now. With Jess of course. Wonderful people and great athletes.
Mo must be a shoe in for sports personality of the year. My wife just loves him. And I have to say, I do too.

Reckon Wiggins will win SPOTY this year because of his success in the Tour De France and the Olympics. Mo would be an equally worthy winner, but think Wiggins will edge it.

Yeah, Brad might get it. But both have been supreme. Personally, I'd like Mo to win it, as his story has been wonderful. But, yes, Brad has done us proud as well.
At least we won't be getting a numpty footballer.
