Defiantly working class. Family were all from a miningbackground on both sides. I have dreams and aspirations of a better life for my family and myself, just need a kick up the arse to get me motivated.

It is relevant is it not in the context where it was provided?

Or you could just answer the questions...And if you had the slightest hint of comprehension than you'd noticed the self awareness of when I made these comments in the context of what I find not so classy. I doesn't concern me a single bit if you want to put your fingers in your food and shove it in your mouth whilst wearing a football shirt. Something totally different.

So who is this 'they'...

Ah so you were indeed just positioning yourself and looking down upon me and playing that age old game of one up manship with that old I am better that you mantra ? And class is indeed of a bygone era data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7.

I talk posh, got a K. Do I care? H**l no, as long as you're interesting. Happily intend to disappear among Mediterranean farmers and goatherds.

PS. Dad married the daughter of a shipyard foreman. He was bloody lucky!

Oh no, it was definitely relevant to the post.I just thought it was funny in a thread discussing the existence of social classes, and your idea that they don’t exist, that your example of everyone being the same was having dinner with your country’s King data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I have been reading this forum with great interest, some of the comments have me baffled, for example the Dude saying owning a beemer series 7 makes you upper class, that is utter crap in my book I owned one which cost £88,000 new I paid 20,000 for it because I wanted a nicely engineered car, I own a very expensive meridian hi-fi and apple computers adorn the house, but I say to the Dude I was a fork truck driver most of my life so definitely working class, I retired at 60 due to a heart attack due to living a working class life, and too many cigs and too much booze, I worked damned hard and played harder, but I like the nice things in life and worked hard to get them, so putting people into a certain class by what they own is a false way of looking at it. I have met lots ofvery rich people whilst on holiday in the caribbean and they are mostly very down to earth people, when I was young my mother said to me everyone has the same chance to make something of themselves if they can be bothered and I still believe that.

I think that was very much tongue in cheek data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
