a very mild improvement over the current gen (the 1080ti at least) if that is to be expected. (18%)
IF it is true then that means the launch card wont be much quicker at all than a well overclocked 1080ti, which means i may need to wait a month or 2 more to get an aftermarket card.
definitely need more info and I more interested in relative performance at 4k not 1440p (where perhaps the faster memory will play a bigger role?)
from what i can see there tho, it means if i did happen to pick up a gtx1080ti in a really good price point, i probably wont be losing out too much.
the rumoured power draw is nice tho.. if its max is under 200w that is an improvement over the 250w of the 1080ti.
all in all not much new info there and all could be "predicted" by any of us and as likely to be just as accurate.
I am not saying the 1180 is a bad card.. and with zero pressure from AMD at the sharp end arguably we are lucky if we get even that jump (better than we got in the 8800 GTS / GT / 9800GTX days) just that if true anyone buying a 1080ti now needn’t feel too much buyers remorse in 3 months time Tempting as it may be, I'm sticking to my guns and waiting for the inevitable Ti version. I still need the prices to drop. I paid £550 for my 980Ti (this was not long after the after market versions were reelased, rather than the leaf blower launch models) and that was higher than the previous equivalents - a 1080Ti is £900 for one like mine (I appreciate some of the Zotacs etc are around £800) this is just too much money.
Whats the betting that we will see the 1180 coming in at £1000 rrp? Exactly the same as me. £550 for my 980ti.
Now I game at 1440p so in reality it can still perform well at the 60FPS I need from it just drop some settings here and there for now. My next gaming move would be to 4K i'd imagine so I'd want a single card to do that at 60fps with all the bells and whistles. If I have to wait until the 12 series lands and then buy an 11 series that does the trick then I think i'll have to do that. I just can't afford £1000 for a card any time soon. I mean I can afford to but I'm not paying £1000 for a top end GPU when 4 years ago it was half that, Brexit, inflation whatever does not account for a 2x price increase. Not to mention in another 4 years it will be obsolete for maxing games again, unlike spending the same on speakers or something.
I only need it for VR but I've got used to my current settings so I can happily wait it out until the next-gen of VR and reasonably priced GPUs which can max it release and in the meantime spend my money on other things. Competition helps, and AMD are not competing in the same way, so thats a factor, Brexit, due to its uncertainity for whomever down the chain has an impact, the fact that they can price gauge by charging what the hell they want and see what muppets pay for it is another. Mining probably has some, but more on the availiabily and prices post release rather than effecting the rrp, unless the manufacturers are finally waking up to the idea that they can reliase profit at their end rather than reseller by charging more in the first place.
The poor bastards amongst us (I count myself here) simply need to wait an watch, and when a card is better than ours by a good margin and of roughly equal price to what we think we should be paying, buy it. indeed however just in case you are not looking at the bargains thread... there ARE some less than terrible deals to be had

over clockers have a similar priced jobbie but it is a mini which apparently thermally throttles really quickly so i am not so interested in that.... but the inno3d card above.... i have already had it in my cart and gone to the CC payment details part twice. I know that feeling, I had the Asus Strix 1080Ti in my basket last October for £625, seems like a bargain now! It still wasn’t quite powerful enough for VR otherwise I would have got it, fortunately I didn’t which left me enough money to get an Accuforce wheel in the Black Friday deals. If true 8gb is a mild disappointment. That means no bump in ram in over 2 years and a drop from the 1080ti which I think is a 1st isn't it? (780ti -980 3gb-4gb, 980ti-1080 6gb to 8 GB)
I question the date tho. Surely if only a month away there should be images of hardware leaks etc?. The cards should in theory me rolling off a production line somewhere now ? Wow, that's disappointing if true. Sounds almost like a downgrade to a 1080Ti to me. I'm now worried the 1180Ti will be 30% more disappointing than the 1180.
