Makes yours a more attractive deal with insurance/maintenance & no upfront payments then.

I'm all for 'hassle free motoring'

Thanks. I think I'm inclined to agree with you!

The link you kindly supplied effectively works out as £311 per month when you add on the deposit. So for another £39 per month I can get 50% more miles plus all other related costs covered so I think that seems quite good all in all. Thanks for your help, it's helped push me in the right direction. Just can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on it for some reason lol.

Yea I know where you are coming from, I hovered for ages but glad I went with leasing in the end (one more thing not to worry about!)

The most common thing people say is that you don't 'own' the car, to me that is now a bonus!

As its paid pre-tax/NI it's wont actually cost you £350 though will it?

If I look at my Juke 1.5dci Tekna as a comparison.

Lease cost = £179.00 per month (VAT included)
Insurance £200 per year = £17.00 per month
Yearly service = approx £200 per year = £ 17.00 per month
Tyres, one set per life of lease = £240.00/36 = £ 7 per month
That's a total of around £220.00 per month, for everything.
If you include the deposit it works out around £235.00 per month.
I'm only on 8000 miles year though.
Even based on higher mileage and a Qashqai body, you're paying approx £115 more per month than me.
I'm not sure you couldn't beat this deal leasing a car yourself?

You'll have paid tax and NI on the £235, whereas his salary sacrifice scheme would be tax/NI free but may need to pay BIK.

So salary isn't affected by your decision to take the deal or not?
In other words, saying "no thanks I'll get my own car" doesn't lead to increased salary?

Yeah the not owning part doesn't really bother me. We currently have a Kia Rio on finance which we bought new (we have to get rid because it's now too small for us) and I'm struggling to get enough money for it to even pay off the finance so we're worse off than if we had taken out a lease in that respect.

The £350 is the effective cost after the Tax and NI reduction etc. The salary sacrifice is a higher number.

Thanks. I see your point and I will have a go at beating it myself but the list price on a qashqai is £25,500 vs £19,165 on the Juke. Also I dare say the insurance is more expensive and the qashqai has 19" alloys so the tyres will be considerably more expensive than £240 for a set. Also there's obviously the big difference in mileage (which you've mentioned) so it's not the best of comparisons but definitely worth a look.

Assuming you pay a 20% rate of income tax, you'll save £112 per month on tax and NI but will pay £63 per month BIK on the Qashqai.
