Take it to an aircon specialist for a proper diagnosis.

The Skoda I bought in March was supposed to have had a recharge in October, but on Easter Monday (first hot day) I realised it wasn't working.  I have a pressure gauge and that read "too high, system failure"  so took it to a Specialist who told me some one had tampered with the wiring to the compressor. And that the compressor was dead.

All working now but I'm £600 down...

Hopefully in your case it's that a joint wasn't tightened fully and you just need a top up after that's fixed.

Can't trade it in though, we had to borrow money for this one, same for selling it in as well... Don't have the cash to replace it....

I would try and refuse the vehicle. They have had sufficient time to fix the issue. And even though it maybe out of the timeframe, this was due to an (unsuccessful) repair.

I agree with @Delvey - the thread stated some time ago but I thought there was always an underlying option to hand it back.

Maybe if you negotiate a bit rather than dumping it on their forecourt they will see that the car was never right and allow you to take another one of the same value in exchange.

Not saying you would dump it - just saying that kind of approach would almost certainly bring down the shutters.

While we probably have some legal recourse still to refuse the car, I think its very likely they won't allow that now with out going to court.
That of course will be more agro.

Mrs phoning them today.... Let's see what happens.

Car not as described (advertised as air con?) and having allowed the firm plenty of time to fix, still not repaired correctly.
I think that because you have raised the issue near enough straight after buying the car, you stand a good chance should it go to court

Ok

So it started working just after last weekend again for about 3 days, then packed up.

Cant get it to the garage tomorrow now as they don't have a courtesy car. Booked in for next Tuesday now instead.

NOt sure why it would stop working, then start working, then stop again.

I know this is only a "first world problem and in the grand scheme of things there is a lot more issues to worry about, but the whole thing is just such a stress!
