Well, the Astra wasn't any good. They had tidied it up a bit and it test drove nicely. But when I set the driving seat for me the Mrs couldn't sit behind (and both of our kids are taller than her).

Back to the drawing board. Saw a nice Hyundai i30 though. But diesel, the guy in the garage said it'll be 20 years before they get rid of diesel cars. I said I was more concerned about getting rid of one in four years.

Would you buy a diesel now?

Yes, if a diesel suited my needs better, but if there is no particular reason to get diesel, I'd veer towards petrol.

Great, we live six miles away from work so most days we are looking at a 12 mile round trip. Hardly diesel territory I suspect. Cheers IG.

12 mile round trip would do damage to a diesel, ultimately - DPF filter would clog.

Looks like we can stretch to a Mazda 3. My favourite car, from the outside. Off to try one out in the morning. Octavia was in the running, but the Mrs doesn't like saloon cars (she once dinged a Ka while trying to reverse into a space)

Well, we bought a car

Mazda 3 fastback in 'soul red'. 2015 plate with 25000 miles on the clock.

Should be a bit better than our 06 Astra Life
