Yep, that is rubber off the HGV tyre on the back bumper. No idea how we didn't end up under it, or how we didn't flip. Mrs said it was going

Defiantly been lucky to get out in one piece. Only you can decide if it's worth fixing. Doesn't look structural just panel damage. If you are planning on selling it at a later date then as you say no one would touch it or you would get significantly less for it.

Looking on eBay at 12 month old repaired categorised vehicles and they are being advertised pretty much In line with not cat cars, maybe slightly less but certainly not a massive difference.always used to be the case that there was a massive difference.

Depends what category write off it is given Cat D is not too bad but Cat C will definitely affect value, also a lot of insurers will not insure a Cat C

I just bought a cat s,god knows how they deemed it to be structural unless they class a bonnet and headlight and airbags as structural.
I am doing it up and there isn’t any of what I would class as structural damage.inner wings under the bonnet aren’t even scratched, same as chassis.

Quick question. Does anyone think the HGV driver will be prosecuted? Also, how would I find out?

I dare say if I'd done what he just did I'd at least get slapped with a 'driving without due care and attention' offence. Looking at the RAC site:

"If the offence is more serious (i.e. if you have endangered other drivers or pedestrians, or caused an accident), you will automatically be summoned to court. The maximum penalty here is nine points on your licence and a £5,000 fine – or you may be disqualified from driving altogether."

It probably depends on whether the lorry driver was detained at the scene. I gather continental drivers still have a habit of returning home and disappearing.

The police took his details and a statement from him (in a fashion, he claimed he didn't speak English) and a statement from my wife. Then they let him go on his way.

I'll be livid if he doesn't get done. He nearly killed us!

I even asked the Police at the time if they took his mobile. They did not. I thought they were supposed to.
