Not good.
I don't use DAB but do CD and FM so that is a concern. I take it that's using both automatic and manually search?
Have this been rectified with later facelifted models?

I would expect an aux port and maybe a usb to be present and I have  old mobile which has a radio on it, could act as a tuner as a temp stop gap if that problem ever arise. Hopefully not

I don't believe this is an issue on the 2011 and later model. A quick google search could probably answer that for you I think.

I think the CD is fine, it's just that a manual and automatic search finds no stations.  I can only access the stations on FM that are programmed into the memory. When I try and find others it fails. I can get nothing on MW at all.

To get round it I bought a cheap DAB device which works a treat.

I think i have all the info i need to solidify my decision (not that i was wavering ) so thank you all for your contributions. I've already earmarked 's' a few for me to go have a look see which a couple are at the other end of the country (a god enough reason for a lads weekend trip)  but no point moving until  the funds are unlocked which will be a few weeks. I shall update this thread when i do.

I may go quiet for a bit on this thread but please post if there's anything more i should know.

Chaps

Would any of you guys look or consider a 2012 model v6s Portfolio with 108k on the clock for £17k ?

i have seen one, full services history, in immaculate condition , in a colour that i like (i'm very fussy and trying to stay away from the nice but very common Black ), but that's a heck of a lot of milage for a 4 year old car. Alarms bells cant stop ringing.

That's a lot of mileage, but from the sounds of it, it was most likely a rep's car. So presumably it will have been serviced properly and had anything it needed etc. But that's something to check for definitely.

A rep can easily do 30K a year mileage so 4 years 108K is ok for a rep.
People are always seem very concerned with high mileage, but if the car has been regularly serviced, the interior is in a decent condition, the bodywork is undamaged and it all works then it isn't a problem.

It'll have been a motorway cruiser, so covered in stone chips. My 61 plate car has 101k miles, and the front end is stone chipped to hell.

I have the XF 2.2 200bhp Portfolio, now one and a half year's old.  Before that I had the 2.2 slightly lower powered as older Premium Luxury for two years.

Best two cars I've ever had, and hopefully when I next change I can have another Jag. Previous two cars were Mercedes E-Class 220 and Audi A6.  Both lovely cars, but the Jag beats them every single way.  I still love the feeling when I sit in the Jag.

The older one had 20" rims, the current one has 19", and I prefer the 19".

Go for it, you'll love it.

Thanks chaps for alleviating some those fears.
I still think £17k is still quite high for the mileage as there are other 2011/2012 V6s for less money with less mileage that are also on my list to view, but this one does tick all the right boxes.

Stones chips is a concern and will have to assess on closer inspection when viewing the cars. Though on this particular car, it went through a 'De-stone chip programme'. Which probably means they got Chipsaway. In saying that, i would rather deal with stone chips from motorway driving than gearbox problem from inner city usage.

However, I am  jumping the gun a bit as the fund are not available yet  as we're still to finalize funds for new kitchen extension which if I don't keep tabs on, will become a money pit via the wife's hands and take over my car funds. She wants a 6 or 7 ring £2k  Range cooker and all sorts of gubbings and thats just for started. I mean i ask you, why a 7 ring cooker when we got along with 4 rings just fine since we could first reach the knobs on one. I bet 2 of them will see more dust than it will pots bottoms.

BTW, I decided on getting a Portfolio, though i have to admit without actually sitting in both, i cant see much difference between that and a PL, including the prices.

Don't worry about mileage as much as condition. My sprinter has done 170000 and is as solid as a rock. Won't be getting rid any time soon. If the vehicle is good it can cope with mileage as long as it's been looked after.
