If you ever venture upto Manchester or even better Cumbria be sure to check out Simon Rogan at L'enclume in Cartmel and stay over or Manchester House, I expect you'd enjoy it pal

It's odd you posted that rouse as I wanted to eat at L'enclume a couple of years back but left it too late to book, so stayed at The Black Swan in Oldstead instead....which was superb btw.

It's deffo on my hit list though, and I'd love to be able to squeeze it in to my Yorkshire trip in July. The north has so many amazing restaurants it's a bugger trying to visit them all!!

If you do get the chance to hit Lancs then be sure to include Northcote on your agenda. Nigel's staff will look after you without doubt.

Have you tried Homer's secret to eating loads of food? He discovered a meal between breakfast and brunch.

Yep done Northcote last year, though Lisa Allen was at the helm. Not sure if she's there still or not? :/

Some amazing restaurants within south cumbria l'enclume, literally round the corner is rogan & Co. Into windermere area The Samling which has amazing views over lake windermere.

As for Manchester look at french restaurant or Mr coopers both located within the midland hotel.

I always drink at The Castle when I stay there, but have never stayed in the hotel, though it looks lovely.

There is literally nothing like having a pint outside the front of The Castle on a Summer's day/evening on the little table and chairs in what has to be England's prettiest village.

Priceless.

The Bybrook is a stunning restaurant, though the portions are deceptively large for a tasting menu. Go hungry for the day!!

Fabulous place and the perfect excuse for a special occasion.

Cheers for that will check out The Samling. Lake Winderemere is literally breathtaking...the sort of place you can just sit for hours and watch the world go by.

Aaaah I want to go now!!
