An interesting read, thanks guys. I've got a friend who should hopefully be representing Team GB at Tokyo 2020 so I'm starting to look into my options for getting out there to watch her.
It seems it's too early to actually book anything so I'm getting a list together of what I'd like to do and I'll hopefully be able to get sorted quite quickly once bookings are open.

It was 10 days but obviously travel is lumped into that.  That really wasn't enough time as it was a full on 10 days, feet have never hurt so much.

@Miss Mandy Also, seriously thinking of going in 2020 as well.  I have to go back and would imagine the Olympics will be awesome over there.  What other country would receive the Olympics like that last night!

Manchester to Dubai, Dubai to Narita Airport and flying with Emirates. If you can fly to Haneda.

Thanks Foster. I'll fly from Heathrow so should get a reasonable choice of flights.
Probably going to have to choose one with a stop somewhere as there seems to be a big difference in price. I'd rather go direct as I've never done a connecting flight before, but its £2-300 dearer per flight to go direct.
