Most politicians are in it for themselves so I find this spate of resignations very suspicious. Chuka's motives are pretty clear  he always wanted to get rid of JC.

But it’s misleading to say that they have as many MPs as LibDem because they weren’t voted in as Independent Party candidates.

The real proof would be for them all to force by-elections, stand as candidates and then see how many of them get voted in as MPs.  My guess would be ZERO.

Also can they exist as a purple party or is the only thing the two parts have in common is being anti-Brexit.  The three ex-tories have already said that they will continue to support the government on anything that is not Brexit.

Cheers,

Nigel

Well that remains to be seen if they are a one trick Brexit pony or can become something more . I hope for the latter as neither the Tory or Labour party is getting my vote come the next GE.

So

Would get my vote rather than far right of far left.

Same for me. Depends on who’s in charge of the tories. I don’t think I could vote labour at the moment, there would have to be a major clear out of the corbynistas before I’d consider them.

Might give the SDP my support.

Really need someone in power at the next election that is not labour. Splinter groups don’t count.

Saying that labour always win where I live.

If that's the case she will resign as an MP and stand as an independent in the resultant by-election.

I assume there are actual rules in place here when an MP defects? Or is that party policy, Labour would be different to Tory and Lib etc?

As I understand it, when you vote the candidates name is given prominence as you are voting for them.

Anne Sobury is on LBC at ten.

Also LBC were calling it the new independence group. Given some have called them the tiggers, new independence group has an unfortunate acronym.
