Sorry mate  - but I cannot take a black cab driver complaining about tax avoidance seriously. And this isnt a dig at cab drivers, my wifes family was in the London taxi trade since the days of Hansom Cabs - its just the voice of experience.

On a serious note please consider what I went through as I was told the situation ran close. It took the medical staff two and a half days to get me out after the five and a half hour open heart surgery. If it went to three days my wife was told they would have done a CT scan on me, mind you they wouldn't have found much.

What we are talking about here is extremely rich people screwing the rest of our collective society with their clever tax avoidence in millions and millions. By the way I do (seriously) pay my taxes and am happy to do so. I would have been more than happy to give my tax obligations to the NHS without wanting and needing their life saving help I assure you, as well as to the schools that educate us. In fact my wife is a school teacher who's core subject is maths and she teaches children that can best be described as "special needs" which include children with health issues as well as social problems. I've also been a London taxi driver for over 43 years and pay my way.

What I was highlighting is that I am being taxed on my income and support allowance which came to just under a measly £3k over a seven and a half month period after paying into the system for 47 years, and it now includes my state pension because I can still earn a living, thank heavens. These guys, including certain actors from a well known BBC comedy and there maybe other actors, are actually paying absolutely nothing, zero, sweet f a, nada, b***er all which is nothing less than a complete disgrace, that's all take care.

If there is a loophole fair play to them but what pisses me off is the normal working person who is chased by hmrc.
Recently stung(£3k) for an honest mistake but if I had the money I would probably have an accountant who would know a loophole.

Not really bothered TBH , if there is a loophole then by all means use it , know I would if I had that money and a canny accountant . By all accounts mine , yours and everyone's  pension schemes use this practice so most of us through 2nd,3rd and 4th parties are using this tax loophole.

You mean like the Labour Party does? It is quite clear they employ some very good tax avoidance mechanisms....

Labour avoided paying tax on £4.3 million worth of profits last year

Why, what would be the point?

As for voluntarily paying more taxes, I often choose to buy the more expensive McVities Penguin wafer biscuit instead of the cheaper Sainsbury's Polar wafer biscuit that according to many is the same product in a different wrapper.  Does that count?

Well glad to see you apply your expectations of others not equally on yourself then...Nothing like a bit of good old fashioned hypocrisy...
