You don't even know the worst of the hmrc
When I was submitting my wage slips to the hmrc I had to post them to Liverpool who would then scan them and load into a system for the office in Wales to assess??!
Wtf

Get a wealth manager or a good accountant. Cheap at the price and you would still have your trip. At 50k you can afford one.

Not to be harsh but I think just reading the manual would have been enough on this one - HMRC do have some pretty decent simple FAQ's/flow charts for these things.  I suppose the trick is knowing when you have to look for something.

I spoke to an accountant and he wouldn't take my money. Said he's seeing loads of this and there's not much he can do.
He may only be able to help with the fines but paying back the child benefit is inevitable so his £300 charge wouldn't be value.

I'm employed by a big Blue chip and my earnings are paye so no way of being crafty with my figures.
It's all done and dusted now but painful memories.

I think @NewfieDrool means 'going forward' i.e. to prevent further mishaps

Does HMRC no longer round down to the nearest pound?

They round down certain inputs like bank interest I think - not sure about the actual due amount.

When I rebuild the system, yup I used to work for them there was definitely another rounding in it. They’ve changed the parameters since then. I couldn’t possibly disclose what it was.
