Not too late for others though
I've been toying with the idea of getting a combined slow / pressure cooker as well, so... what made you choose this one over, say, the Instant Pot?

Rated 6 Liters - Usable 4 Liters - Another minefield with suppliers generally using the rated volume....

Firstly and foremost the Risotto function. Yes I love beef casserole or bourgingon and the likes a lot, but I didn't want it to just remain in the cupboard during the summer period as well. I love risotto style dishes. But as you know, getting that moment right between liquid and drying up requires attention. This bad boy is just brilliant. According to the sales blurb it can individually heat lots of points in the pot, therefore creating individual heat pockets and thus create the effect of stirring it. Well whatever clear technique is used it really works.

Secondly the looks. Yes I know it shouldn't matter, but come on just look like the Instant Pot the user interface looks like something from a Karaoke bar. Great and logical when you've had several bottles of sake but at any other time it just doesn't make any sense. We wanted something that is easy to use.

Yes the price was a little off putting compared to the other brands, but I found what I thought was a fantastic deal with Go Electrical. Sage Heston Blumenthal BPR700BSS The Fast Slow Cooker Pro

They didn't have it in stock, and I see it is again not in stock, but it was delivered within 10 days....

I'm sure something like the Instant Pot can do the same thing, other then the Risotto settings. So if you like your Risotto but don't always have time to pay it the attention it deserves this is the one to get

Mmm, risotto... yes that's definitely something I'd look for.

Do you find the non-stick pot to have any issues in terms of scratches, etc? That'd be my biggest worry really, I hate scratches on non-stick coatings (for health reasons).

Thank you

It is a concern indeed, I'm super careful with it. Clean it carefully and bought some plastic utensils.

One of the reasons I bought the Instant Pot, it has a stainless steel pot, so no non stick to worry about.  I'd agree though that the Sage is far more aesthetically pleasing

Sadly that one is pushing the budget.

Hopefully the Instant pot arrives soon as I really want to get these beef cheeks cooked.

Even the cheapest slow cooker should do that lovely....As a recent convert I'm amazed by how nice beef gets.

For me it was the risotto justifying to blow the budget

Last time I did them I just used a casserole dish. If the Instant Pot doesn't arrive by 3 then I'll be doing them in that again.

Get yourselves down to Tesco or Waitrose, get some Beef(Ox) cheeks (cheap at £7.99/KG) and whack them in that slow cooker. You will not regret it, and will find a new favourite beef.
