Can I have your name and address to ensure I don't eat around yours? So you refuse to eat past the use by date but will happily feed it to family and friends? That is just wrong if they don't know.

I will eat it if it is past if it looks and smells fine. I'd like to know in the first instant though.

I think if people are expecting their food to be free then they don't have the right to be fussy about it is my view. Plus no one has ever said anything about the food in fact they seem to really enjoy it.

I'll eat food past the stated best before date, as long as I can't any mould on it and it doesn't smell iffy. In fact I just pulled out a sealed tin of fruit cocktail which states a best before date of spring 2009. I'm predicting a 50/50 chance it's still going to be ok to eat.

I always charge my relatives for their meals so I think they have the right to expect in date food, they're paying enough for it.   Unless they are sitting on a large inheritance of course, then I feed them on roadkill and puffer fish.

Even food shelters have to pass food standards. What you think homeless people should be given rotten scraps?

Rotten scraps? Slightly out of date food is surely better than nothing. And if it's good enough for me...
