Just got a xbox one X and bought some 4k blu-rays.

My question is will the video be better quality if I switch game mode off? If so is it preferable to switch game mode off if using Netflix / Amazon video as well? Lastly are there any other TV settings i should change for the one X? I watched an av forum's video which said to turn the sharpness to 0 so I've done that.

Tv is Samsung KS9000.

From what I have read the UHD playback of the Xbox One X is pretty screwed at the moment with everything looking washed out and blacks appearing grey.

Um its really not! I havent even got HDR working yet because of my amp and the blacks were really black. No grey washed out stuff on my X! Tried everything I had, Blade Runner, Starship Troopers, Fifth Element, Goodfellas, Dredd, Ex Machina, Prometheus , The Martian, Alien Covenant.

Got Sicario and Arrival to try out now too.

Perhaps that’s why you haven’t experienced the issues then? as I have seen a few posts saying that both the Netflix app and UHD playback were giving grey blacks due to the HDR content being handled badly.

So if it’s just HDR that is screwing things up then I assume that by disabling HDR in the video settings then UHDs would playback just fine in 4K?

I would think so. Not happy about HDR being screwed up though - just bought a new amp to rectify this problem!

Apparently it has always been an issue in the S and that has been out well over a year now so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

It’s fixed in the new update that’s in preview...UHD playback I mean, not sure about Netflix though.
