It says a lot about the state of things today when a phone review completely omits call handling and quality from the main body of text, just plonking a score at the bottom. Not good enough imo.

It's a fair point, but in the same regard, it would need fair comparison over a number of network providers too, as this is commonly a big factor in the success and quality of calls too.

I think it's fair to say that these days actually using your smartphone to make and receive phone calls is probably the least important aspect. Although I constantly see people on their phones when out and about, I rarely see anyone actually making a phone call. Qactuar's point about coverage and network providers is also very true.

If it's as attractive, solid and reliable as my S8 then it's a quality handset. Lets be honest here, where else can they go with design now? Battery tech needs a focus now.

Camera tech has come a long way, Although both of the models seems great, it's not a major upgrade from the S8's. Although quite enticing, it doesn't fully justify upgrading from the S8 range. I still love my S7 edge, with the 3600mAh battery. Samsung need to beef up their battery to 4000mAH like Huawei, Asus etc. They need to be careful as Huawei are coming out with some great handsets like the very underrated Mate 10 pro.

Doesn't seem like a big upgrade from the S8 to me. But then the S8 was/is a great phone in its own right, so I guess that was to be expected.

I have an S7, and I am not really feeling the need to upgrade. Which, for me, is saying something.

I understand that but some of the new phones just aren't loud or clear enough for loudspeaker calls  especially in certain environments. It should have been mentioned  The review makes it sound like a slight upgrade more than anything and the length and quality only reinforced that imo.
