Some movies are for laughter, some are for thrills, while Dangerous Minds is for life lessons. This movie takes the viewers into the ghetto neighborhood of African-American, Latino and the lower class. It takes place at a high school where an ex-marine Louanne Johnson (Michelle Pfeiffer) becomes a teacher from an invitation by a friend/teacher that teaches at that school. After a terrible reception, from the students she tries unconventional methods of teaching, using Bob Dylan lyrics, friendship and attention and gets the trust of her students. After handing out an assignment she rewarded the top three students with the most effort and best mark to a dinner with her to an up scaled restaurant. Louanne started realizing how education was too much for some students to handle because their in a life struggle. It forced some students dropped out of school with so much frustration in their lives because of trying to study education and keep up with life. But others saw it as an inspiration and determination to keep on studying and educating themselves because of Louanne's teaching. I am a huge fan of Michelle Pfeiffer's acting and think she put a terrific performance like the usual. But this time it was the theme message of the movie that really interested me. I got to experiment the life of how teenagers are struggling in life and trying to take education seriously. However, the movie shows that determination, inspiration and dignity motivate us to achieve goals in school and also in life. The movie's soundtrack called Gangster's Paradise by Coolie copied from the original song by Stevie Wonder "Past Time Paradise" fits in very well with the movie. The lyrics are meaningful explaining that education is an option rather then a priority in a struggle life. In my opinion, this movie deserves 8 out of 10. The movie reveals that life is about love, hate, fear, and strength and that determination and dignity passes us all in life.
