I have an interesting story  from another forum.A techno market employee who is also a member of the forum says:"We were talking  with a guy from Philips over a returned 32PFL5507.When I mentioned  the info about  different panels according to the numbers on rear sticker  the guy said"no such thing!",then they opened the tv and showed me the panel with a Sharp label on it .The rear sticker said 395!And the list in the link you provided says 32/ 5xx7 has only Samsung panels!What can be the explanation?

Hello
Perhaps it would be a great help for many people to make a summary of known panel codes.
It could be helpful to describe it for 2011 and 2012 models.
The most important brands could be Samsung,Toshiba,Philips,Panasonic and Sony?
If there is somebody able to do this summary, thanks in advance !
Also thank you Hristoslav for all comments and information.

We need an app realy or online database were you can type in your make and model and anyother info, and it will return you your panel type, with info about it.

So if I'm getting this right, last years 55hx929 is using older Samsung SPVA with Psa versus this years 55hx950 using newer gen Samsung SPVA panel with Psa tech.

Now I'm trying to compare both of those smaller sizes to the bigger sizes, 65hx929 and 65hx950. Apparently both of these are using CMO SMVA panels.

This bothers me because these sets are $2k more than the 55" versions yet Sony equipped them which cheaper Taiwanese panels? This is ridiculous.

Unless I'm wrong and the Psa tech in the 55" models decreases the contrast/viewing angles for 2d in order to give better 3d picture quality.

That would also explain why many are complaining about bad viewing angles on the 55" and great on the 65". Conversely there are also reports of the 65" having bad crosstalk for 3d especially 3d gaming whereas 55" models are getting good reviews for 3d picture quality.

The question is does the Samsung SPVA Psa give lower contrast/viewing angles compared to the CMO SMVA panels which do not have Psa technology built into them?

Someone please clarify this, thanks!

Hello.This is an excellent topic which I 've happily read from start to end (part 1 too).Needless to say the info was of great help, in deciding for my new LCD.

I bought the Samsung UE40EH6030 for which I haven't found any info regarding the panel.It is an LCD with "direct-lit" LED technology and was bought on purpose despite the thicker chassis.I am still learning the TV but overall seems a good purchase for its price.

Inside Service Menu you can see this:
Type: 40A1AF6D

Now according to Part #1 of this thread I am going to try deciphering the code:

40= size
A= Samsung S-PVA Panel (?)
1= Panel Freq. 100Hz
A= Antiglare
F= Full HD
6= ?
D= Direct Lit?

Do you think my interpretation is correct?

Also is it safe to assume this info is valid for 6030 series?
ES5500 -> ЕS6800 -> T-MST10PDEUC-1005.2 X10 -> MStar X10 900Mhz MStar .
Well it wouldn't surprise me as the media player seems very capable at first glance.
