Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Announced (2018)

Moving back to Android as I'm now using a Surface Pro 6 for work/photo editing and really just wanting something I can use for video, browsing and maybe email.

Loved the Tab S3 and had a play with an S4 in the Samsung Store on Saturday, seems nice and the aspect ratio looks like it would be great for videos - is it worth the money?

Not seeing too much Android competition to be honest - I guess the new iPad Air is probably the closest but fed up with a lack of expandable storage on the iPad.

Girlfriend has got one at its pretty stunning! I'll be getting the Tab S5e when it comes out hopefully but it's a tad less piwerpow than this although I don't think it will bother me.

Up to you what it is you want from a tablet, it's fast, stunning screen, speakers are really good too and battery life for her has been excellent. It's also getting the One UI sometime next month apparently so that will be good too!

Apparently the One UI update will be out for the S4 on the 12/4 but that's Turkey. It should be very soon though for us

Oh and the Tab S5e is up for pre-order, base 64gb no lte £379 which I think is a fair price for what's on offer. Oh and the preorder deal gets you a 512gb SD card from Samsung

Users in France are getting Android 9 (Pie) with One UI update today's, brings dark mode as well which is a nice addition and the March security update, so shouldn't be long now

Still looking at options - had a look at the new iPad Air 3 - seems a nice bit of kit, fast and light but two speakers on the bottom (if your holding it portrait) makes no sense.

Had a play with an S4 in the Samsung store and it seems a nice piece of kit!

For me, if I was an Apple man, then I'd probably struggle to say no to an iPad. Being an android man though, Samsung high end tabs are hard to beat. Media wise for me they beat iPads, 4:3 ratio display just doesn't compete with a 16:10 Amoled on a Samsung S4 or the new S5e and the quad speakers are very good! I'm often stealing the girlfriends S4 .

I went for the S5e though for 3 simple reasons to me. The price, I don't require the top end processor and the Snapdradon 670 in the S5e isn't a bad processor. Also I don't see me using the pen and any case I've seen for the S4 makes room for the pen and therefore adds wasted bulk for me.

Thats a fair point! I do like the Air and while I'm no Apple Fanboi I do likethe apps, etc - especially for photo editing which I'm sure the Air 3 would be fine at (Affinity Photo is great).

But I would like the extra flexibility that Android gives! If I can give up the stylus then the 5e would seem a good option.

It can't be far off, although I'm still waiting for my S5e preorder from 2 weeks ago
