Thanks yep after asking that is Jiin sh*toryo and yes the kid is extremely dtermined. He is currently training with a weights vest (6kgs he is only 20 odd) for upto 3 hours at a time 3 x a week!!!

Took these yesterday, got his brand new gi with the 3 lions badge for the world champs in serbia next month and his new chest plate for the kumite

He trains with a club in se london, not quite sure of the set up but his sensei is an egyptian and the training is relentless. He knows what he is doing though as a fella under his tutoring was the cadet world karate federation world champion 4 times in a row!

This video made me so proud and its kinda lol.. The fella on his right is Mostfafa Ibrahim (4xchamp) and on the left is the under 15 champ and they were proud to let riku captain them (only in training lol) Riku was only 5 years old then i think.

I was in Novi Sad in 02 and 05. The hall is fairly impressive but dated.

I have decided to stop my son grading for the time being.. I am a bit pished at the grading fees and his sensei says all a belt is for is holding your trousers up

I'm training in Shotokan karate - looking to take my 1st Kyu grading later this year, then black belt, 1st Dan towards the end of next year.

I googled the stadium it does look impressive and a little daunting. The hotel we are staying in looks like something from the seventies

My cousin teaches mix martial arts and he put riku through his paces today and i made a little video of the session. was awesome and riku will be doing junior force once a week too now. I didnt know he was so good at taking a hit, definitely more optomistic now

Are gou staying at the Park Hotel by any chance? In 2002 when I went it was bare bones but had a major upgrade by 2005. I pulled the full toilet sistern off the wall to the right of the entrance when I tried to flush!

How often was he grading ? And if your using the belt to hold your trousers up, you're doing it wrong

The gradings are a bit of a cash cow, especially when you look at how many are grading at one time.
