Didn’t really expect what was originally a commercial van engine in a £40k car. Had a bmw 320d when the came out in 1999 and that was superb and very muted.

I did test drive it, but thought I usually have music playing so it would be ok. Which brings me to another dislike, the command stereo was the worst I have had in any car I can remember.

As you can probably tell, it’s unlikely I will own another Benz [emoji3]

LOL I think you don't know how to buy a Merc....Get a six cylinder engine, and also upgrade the sound system and get the full command version not the standard one they put in...It is true that you have to pay for the the options...But there are some decent value packs...

The Burmester sound stuff is pretty amazing...The Harmon Kardon we had with command in our GLS was out of this world....

And big cars need big engines...I agree that the BMW x20d were nice, but still nowhere close to their six cylinder versions either...

I must have inadvertently learnt the error of my ways as I now have a 6 cylinder 3.0 bmw with a great gearbox, comfy seat and Harmon Kardon sound system [emoji41]

Snow yesterday and the car wouldn't stop making beeping noises saying I was about to crash into something. They were just big snowflakes! Then it struggled to get up a slight incline, traction control kept shutting the power off, then it tried to overtake itself. God I hate this car.

The garage who serviced it took care of that.

21000 miles and another full set of tyres almost worn through at £185 each. Turns out the factory must have set it up wrong as it has rubbed the inside edges off all 4 tyres. Tyre place said Camber (?) is all wrong. Called Merc and they basically said it was nowt to do with them.  fudge this car. 10 months and counting.

21K oh I wish...I'm getting 9K out of my tyres...Tyre place needs to be a well respected tyre place to get Mercedes to accept it. Camber adjustment is not standard and measurement requires specialistic equipment, especially when you have full or part airmatic suspension in the car...

This set has almost at the limit inner edges after 7k. Mercedes changed the first set so took it to an indy this time.
