If Boris gets into the final two, he will win.

The final two will have to include one leaver at least to counter the brexit party. So the question is which one could the party get behind to stop Boris? The only one I can see is Raab who can fill that role.

The soft brexiters and remainers would never vote for either, and probably have enough numbers to get a remainer or soft brexiter on the ticket. I'd guess Hunt might get that now Rudd is out.

Going to be an interesting few weeks.

They said we may not know the new leader till September, and I'm not sure how much will happen over the summer recess with this.

I reckon early August at the latest, otherwise their polling numbers will take a hit on the fact that all this Brexit stuff is being delayed over their internal party business, and that the public is yet again being held to ransom; however Jezza will probably fail to capitalise on another open goal and have yet another anti-Semitism/hug-a-bomber issue to deal with.

They may have a party member mandate, but certainly not a public mandate in how the court of public opinion sees it these days. And as a minority government, that's even less of a mandate than if they'd held a majority.

Typical BBC. Yesterday it was a completely different story, which is where I got September from.

However more interesting than that is this -

Sir Graham Brady has stood down as chair of the 1922 Committee, having been "urged" by MPs to stand for the leadership. He said he was "considering the approaches... and will make a decision in due course".

Has anyone in here even considered Brady? I know I haven't. Can't say I know a great deal about him.

Never considered him, but always thought he ended up an overreaching ERG stooge as chair of the 1922 Committee.
