Not just MP's the grass routes as well.

The local party chairperson has been frustrated by the way CCHQ have run the whole campaign.

Chatting with her yesterday there's alot of headshaking about how this has played out.

We're in a strong Tory area 3 of their MP' s around us and none of the party members seem to have confidence in our PM.

In any leadership contest she wouldn't get my vote and struggle getting many tory members on her side round here

nah, just somebody who hangs around with a lot of 20 year olds and knows how easily they can be influenced.

The irony giggles were you attacking an 'out of touch old man' for 'demonising our youths'

If I was 75, does that make it OK in your eyes for you to call me an 'out of touch old man' just because we disagree on something?

You certainly seem to have a bit of an issue with old people, based on your last few posts?

I heard similar comments from older people regarding May.  Your point then being what?

What I think is rank hypocrisy is Corbyn was labelled an IRA sympathiser by the Tories and their friends in the press. Fast forward and we now have the Tories getting in bed with the DUP (an organisation that has it's roots in the paramilitaries of NI) in order to remain in power.

Oh the irony!

People will vote for someone for the most trivial of reasons.  Seems fairly clear cut to me.

You heard older people saying they voted for May because she looked like a favourite teacher?

I'm sure that's completely true and in no way bullsh*t.

the answer to the OP is NO .The Conservative party is the most successful and ruthless political party in modern British history. They have had several hiccups over the years but always survive them. Back in 1997 people were suggesting similar things, 3 leaders later and they were back in power. Having said that this is a mini-crisis which has the makings of a major one because the modernisers within the party will scent the opportunity to challenge Mays position over Brexit. As one well-placed ex-minister said, "Well, we tried the UKIPey thing and look what happened, and we’re not doing it anymore’, I think the single market and freedom of movement decisions are all back in play."
Of course, the teeth gnashing diehards on the other side will resist furiously but as the months roll on things could get very interesting

I see knives are now out for Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill:
Theresa May 'told to sack advisers or face challenge' - BBC News

With May now fundamentally undermined, she is going to get pushed around by just about every faction going.

When I said 'out of touch of old man' that was out of what I perceived to be you playing down the importance of young people in not just this election but society in general. I can cope with you disagreeing with me and welcome it even, but your comments were pretty scathing towards the youth and I am just tired of seeing them slagged off when they are very much the future of our country.

Definitely don't have an issue with old people, mate. But I do know how stuck in their ways they can be, specially the ones living real nice comfy lives in suburban environments. I've come across many who are Terminatorlike in their resistance to being bargained or reasoned with when discussing politics.

Good! She let her two unelected spads/gatekeepers/mates potentially determine the future of this country. No doubt they'll be ennobled in her resignation honours.

EDIT ... both now out
