This thread started off inappropriate and has now just got silly. Sonic's exploits as a reservist are scattered liberally through many of our politics threads but bear no relation to the events being discussed here. Everyone sent on military Ops is prepared/trained/medically fit to do what they are being asked to do. We have no idea about the Police Officer in question. He gave his evidence publicly - if his actions fell short then there is more than enough oversight to take action having taken into account the entirety of the facts.

At this point the thread seems to be a dick measuring contest between Sonic and Palmer via third party social media . All very strange .

1. He was in a car. You can hurt people with a car. See Lee Rigby.
2. He could have provided a distraction. Got out, shouted, whatever. The bad guy's aim was ultimately the Houses of parliament. You don't think some kind of delay wouldn't help? Get out the car, shout, then get in, drive off, whatever.
3. The bad guy had a knife. Not an AK or an RPG. There's only so much you can do with a knife.
4. An MP did run to the scene. If they are braver than you there's something wrong. I don't think the MP was armed.
5. He's not you. You might not choose to put yourself in danger. He is still in the police. He also has a QPM.

For what it’s worth Sonic, I agree. I’m personally disgusted that he sat in a car a watched a colleague being murdered and did absolutely nothing. Then left at the first opportunity when he could have taken command of the scene initially.

If he bricked it, fair enough. But he now needs to hand his warrant card and uniform in, IMO.
