My mum had a sales rep around today from my planet. He offered a 16 panel 3120 kWh, 8 on each side of the roof for £14938.80... That is 120 monthly payments of £124.49, plus a £135 arrangement fee. They supply the higher quality German panels.
She would also get 20 LED bulbs, 1 inverter and my energy plus internet control system.
They will also give a £1000 cheque to her to put towards the monthly payments and once payed off she gets the quarterly cheques from the energy supplier.
They also estimate a first year set of savings, solar PV £741.47, LED bulbs £232.14, myEnergy £93.60, MyEnergy  £103.57, a total of £1170.74.

Sounds a bit high to me, what do you think?

Thats astronomic! 3kw system should be in the  £4500 for cheap panels JA etc to £6000 ish for more expensive panels something like Sunpower, check my post above.

Buy the LED lights from Amazon, Aurora are good although not the cheapest. They are about £10 each (you can buy a lot cheaper from say £3 to 4 but you get what you pay for). So LED's £200ish

PV savings   income won't be far off, LED savings are dependent on how long your using your lights for but assuming 3hrs a day 14pkWh grid cost thats about £6/yr saving (assuming an 80% reduction in power) per light but you won't use them all for 3hrs a day so I suspect they saving quoted is a bit high. Still an LED is likely to have a payback of its costs in less than 2 to 3 years.

So it looks like they are over charging by about 200 to 250%!

I am in Chesham, Bucks. UK.
I think the reason my mum got tempted was due to the no payment for her to actually physically make and she cant afford to payout upfront, in full or anything like that.

Solarphil, you seem to have Mis read completely the package MyPlanet have offered sferg410s Mother. He stated a 4kw system producing 3110kwh per annum, not a 3kw system. You have also failed to take into account the Myenergy plus!!!!

@solarpete1978 at no point does he mention a 4kwh system and even if it did it is still a rip off! Are you connected to the company by any chance?

That was my mistake, 8 panels i think it was, 4 each side.
The claimed the bulbs were so expensive as had a lifetime of 50,000 hours..
Contacted them, said it was far to much money, they said they would get back to me. They did and offered a deal that was £2000 but no £1000 cashback to start making your payment with. So essentially just £1000 less and would have to start making the repayments out of her own pocket.
Said NO THANKS.....

I think they probably provide good equipment and a good service and a way of getting on the solar system without paying out from your own pocket initially. But the charge for that, almost twice the price for the installation. Maybe she would have been able to pay the monthly loan with money generated from the panels, but then again maybe not and wouldn't it be nicer to be banking that money if there was any....

Bottom line however is this, £150 every month for up to 10 YEARS.... that is a hell of a commitment.

So, I've just had "My Planet" on the phone saying I'm entitled to help from the new government grant of some sort, and I could have 6 panels installed for £100, the max being 16 depending on the size of my house. Now when I last looked I think I was quoted about £12k for 10 panels (I have the space for 16 as it happens.) so I was a little shocked at this price and the bells are ringing.

I'm in between work at the moment so I have arrange for one of their guys to come around next Weds to have a chat/quote/sale, which should give me a bit of time to look around and read forums like this one.

They say I'll get the feed rate from the Gov, and my supplier and it will of course reduce my bills......... so what do they get I ask myself.

Firstly has anyone heard of this scheme they are referring to?
Secondly any additional feed back on My Planet as someone to use?
        Installer,
        Equipment used
        trustworthy?

or should I steer clear?

Cheers

Not heard of any such scheme seems like a lie just to get in the door.
