Daiquiri - simple style
1.5 ounces rum
0.75 ounce lime juice
0.25 ounce sugar syrup

For the sugar syrup you can boil up 1 part water and add 2 parts sugar until dissolved, then bottle it up.  This should last about 6 months in a sealed bottle in the fridge (depending on how much you make and how much you drink!! )

Alternatively, just add 1 part sugar and 1 part water to a shaker and shake until the sugar is dissolved.

Usually cola but ginger ale is also is a nice mixer, especially with a spiced rum, during these cold winter months.

Home-made Mojitos, like SteakAndCake mentions, are lovely in the summer with a nice white rum.

Never even heard of that one!

That's how I've always drank 1919

Nice neat but also no harm in a splash of diet coke and a squeeze of lime

I had it with my ice. Too strong for my tastes totally neat.
I thought about a dash of lime but didn't have any.
Really with coke? Thought that was reserved for spiced?

Don't think it has to be exclusive. I love the 1919 but I am a bugger  for not being able to "sup" . It's gone in seconds so I need to add something to make it last so a slight splash at least adds something. Only on the odd occasion though.

Looking at picking up an 1824 next, if the 1919 is this good then the 1824 must be sublime

Fair dos. I thought it was blasphemy to that with good rum much like adding coke to anything other than JD/Jim Beam in the whiskey family.
Keen to try a wedge of lime.

Pineapple juice is nice. Or get some coconut/pineapple juice combo (Tesco do it) and make a Piña Colada. Obviously not with really expensive rum.
