Does anyone else have a gag reflex when they smell malibu?
Always makes me gag just the smell of it.
And that's coming from someone who finds people who gag highly annoying! lol

Not read this whole thread so these might have been discussed, but i'm a rum drinker, to drink neat though, it has to be a good one.

Here are my favourites in no particular order.

Zacapa XO (One of the best i'd say)
Zacapa 23 - Easily my go to rum if I want to save the XO
El Dorado 21 Years - Rum from my dad's home country, the 21 year old is a marvel
Angostura 1919 - Rum from my Mum's country. Not my favourite but not bad
Pyrat XO - Lovely stuff, very different, almost orange flavoured

I could drink Zacapa all day, pair it with the right cigar - heaven!

As a side note - In Trinidad, there are so called "Rum Shops" on basically every street corner, great places if you aren't afraid of mixing with the locals, but you'll never see anyone in there drinking a "premium" rum

I like capt morgan spiced too, it gets a thumbs up from me but it is a watered down version of capt morgan original which i prefer.

I've got Angostura 1919 (friend is from Trini and recommended it). I like it. Is there anything better at the same price point?

Well, you could try El Dorado 12 year, its the youngest but still not bad. Also if you can push the price, i would recommend trying Zacapa 23, it's so smooth and almost buttery in texture, but sweet, only try it if you like sweet!

I'd like to add Diplimatico Reserva to your list. A lovely caramely taste and my preferred go to rum over Zacapa 23.

The Zapaca is over twice the price of the Angostura.
