I'd love to try Goose some year but I remember it being pretty greasy. I'm not sure it would go down well with the females in the house.

Nah, it's fine if it's cooked right. It is greasier than turkey, but tastes so much better.

I'm cooking for myself this year. I have big plans but I'll probably end up opening a tin of beans

I'd like to have goose though my wife has always said thatit is too greasy.  I've had it in a traditional Munich restaurant ant it was fine though.  Turkey alwys comes out too dry no matter how e took it or what type we buy.

Another obstacle for Goose is that it is expensive per pound and because they are big even more expensive in total.  Is it possible to buy a portion suitable for 5 people.

Cheers,

Nigel

Absolutley no need for a starter, it's Christmas dinner and there's enough to indulge in, without introducing another course.

Breakfast. 1 or 3 mimosa's and crossiants, salmon and scrambled eggs. Or a bacon sarnie depending on the previous nights indulgences.

Norfolk black turkey, pigs in blankets, sausagemeat stuffing, sirloin of beef, roast spuds and Yorkshire puddings, sprouts, parsnips, peas, carrots, broccoli, swede, red cabbage, cauliflower/cheese, leeks, bread sauce and gravy.

Followed by about 10 hours of serious food and alcohol consumption, with the odd argument and disagreement thrown in for good measure.
