Great pictures, thinking of doing a trip up the West coast in September inc Mull and Skye . Did you encounter the troublesome midges...

We have loads of Deet with us but surprisingly we haven't needed it yet. Saw a few in the guest house garden last night, other than that, none so far.

Onward north. This place reminds me of where 007 and M stopped for a wiz on the way to Skyfall.

The road hugged the coastline with great views and places to stretch our legs.

Pulled into a motel type place at Ullapool. Drizzly.

Then the sun came through.

A few more of Ullapool. 17:30 to Stornoway.

Walk along the shore.

Had dinner in a pub then walked back. Place looks so different now the tide is in.

Such clear water.

Edit: tried a 12 year single malt. Nope, still don't like it.

Yep, we'll keep heading north. Wife has heard of nice beaches further up. As pretty rocks and peddles are, we need some sand.

We spend a lot of time touring Scotland in our Motorhome and are currently heading down.  We are 40 miles north of Ullapool (picture 6)

Two of our favourite beaches are Oldmoreshore (picture 5) and Balnakeil (first beach in really nice but head over the sand dune in the distance and you will find a second beach which is the one in the first four pictures)

Unfortunately the weather is not looking too good for the next few days.

A lady in a coffee shop told us to head for the beach near Durnees. Thanks for pin pointing it. May get to the other on the way up. The weather is so changeable as you know but it's not an issue really.

Well if you like coffee shops you should pay a visit to cocoa mountain and have some coffee and expensive chocolates. Smoo caves is also worth a visit.

Enjoy.
