Why "teach" about marriage or partnerships at all?
Why teach anything?
Relationships in all forms, shapes and sizes are very important to aid interaction.
In my opinion having an understanding and appreciation of different views, customs, habits etc enriches society and perhaps even allow us to learn to celebrate our differences opposed to judge and denounce them or worse.
Open and honest education about all is the key to progression in my opinion.

Why should teachers know better about these things than anyone else?
The clue is in the name:
Teacher:
A teacher is a person who helps others to acquire knowledge, competences or values.
Surely they can do that without promoting a specific way of behavior?
