Thank you I just saw all the positives couldn't find any negatives. You think I should walk away then? He seemed OK and car price and mileage was good and reviews were good that's why I jumped at the chance really.
Thank you do you think I should walk away? It's got great reviews, good price I needed a car all seemed OK. Even this other car garage has good reviews and some bad ones it's 170bhp

I can only speak for myself here, I put a great deal off effort into car searches, checking reviews, car history, joining manufacturer forums to discover what to look out for on the particular model.  I would be annoyed that the dealer had already let me down despite having a booked appointment for a test drive.  I'd want to know why the car's MOT had lapsed and why it has seemed so difficult to sell (almost 8 months!)  The negative reviews are all saying the same thing so personally, I'd walk away, nothing worse than spending top £ on a vehicle only for it to turn into a grief mobile.

Did I just notice that the car has got a mixture of Pirelli and Landsail tyres...I'd use that as a negotiation point and insist to have some proper matching tyres on it.

For me that is an indication that the previous owner really didn't care about maintenance. Which doesn't have to be bad when you can get an excellent deal and have money in it to get it up to scratch and a known state.

I'm sorry I don't want to be negative, but I'm with @Naaktgeboren as there are too many signs that it could go horribly wrong. At the moment you are only £500 down.

I really hope it works out for you.

Hard to tell, but it's possible it has 2 Pirellis and 2 other different tyres on it...   Any chance you could stretch to that white one Tony?

I received a phone call while I was at work woman asking me when would I like to pick the car up becuase they have to give it an mot, prep it foxing it a clean etc and check if I need new cam belt. I doubt they will put one on but I know it needs one as it's reccomended by volkswagen after 5 years or 40,000 miles.

I did say about the tyres at the time and was told the tyres are in good condition just not branded like pirelli. I remember when I bought the type r first thing I did was take it to dealer for service and check over and buy 4 pirelli tyres only becuase price was £9200 and other type r were closer to 11k at the time and had low mileage. I didn't Google on the site like I am now, back then car was clean no marks full service history and luckily I didn't have any problems until 5 years later ecu went and few  weeks after I replaced it a car smashed into it parked other than that it was great reliable.
Just hear horror stories about all companies and makes me worry when spending so much while I am too nice and gullible thinking everyone is the same.

I do think I should go for 170bhp minimum but then think I drive 200 miles a week and while Honda was good fun it did cost me £200 a month in fuel and £330 road tax and with the money I save from fuel I can drive to girlfriend more often maybe haha.

I have been driving a fiat tippo last 3 weeks or so since the accident and while it was awful and seemed to have no power after having type r for 5 years I got used to it last week although I wouldn't buy one
First car was ford escort 1.4 then 1.0 polo then hyaundi coupe 2.0  then the type r which has been my favourite

It sounds to me as if they're pushing you into taking it without a test run, at the least I'd get the RAC/AA to do a check on it, yes it would cost some money but may save you a heart ache in the long run. I think you're being swayed by the low price/mileage more than anything else.

I'm afraid I'm with the others, walk away quickly before you're stung.

Sorry.

I think she was just letting me know it won't be ready until Monday and checking if that's OK. She understood that I wanted a test drive before I made my mind up.
I put the deposit on credit card so I will probably lose that of walk away but £500 is better than losing thousands.

Im swayed by the car becuase I need a car as have no transport and have heart set on a scirocco and looking on auto trader it's hard to find one with less than 60k miles and under 11k unless it's closer to 10 years old. I also wanted leather heated seats

No reason why you should loose it just because it's on credit card, all they need do is refund the card, if you have a problem you could even do a charge back which you can't do with cash.

I would be a bit worried, why was it off the road for so long, has it been badly crashed?  It could have a million things wrong with it, the garage have no incentive to fix it if they know you are going to buy it.
