Top-level Passats have full leather...  And Dynaudio speakers and amp...  And heated seats. (sorry - couldn't resist).

I also find the heated seats great if you ever suffer from back pain, or in my wife's case, arthritis.  They are highly recommended.   And the folks in the back suffer without heated seats, since those seats are empty 99% of the time, and I couldn't justify the extra, so maybe it's not top spec after all...

Absolutely. The heated windscreen in my S Max has been essentially the best option ever.

Far better than scraping ice. Still have to scrape the side windows though.

Just to confuse things, go for the 4 Gran coupe M Sport instead, might not be a big leap depending on the other options you’ve chosen?

I have been able to see the kerb when reversing on any car I've ever had, and none of them have had dipping mirrors. Maybe I set the mirrors a bit lower than most.

Heated seats are definitely needed with full leather, they're great for my lower back pain too. Apparently the reason that hardly any manufacturers other than Ford used heated windscreens is due to the failure rate.

The dipping mirrors allow a view of the kerb at the back wheel. I can’t recall my other cars allowing that when set normally - without the dipping mirror.

I agree the cost of replacement of the heated windscreen is a major factor in others not fitting them. I would imagine more replacements are due to windscreen breakage than element failure? Either way the finer elements are a challenge that’s for sure.

My old company's fleet were all ford focus and Mondeo's and were maintained by an in house mechanic, I don't know of any of the windscreens elements failing, doesn't mean they didn't just not enough to get a mention if any.

You need both folding mirrors and heated seats
