I think you will find you are mistaken - this is an area covered by QMV.

34% of the UK voting population, including yourself I believe?, voted for our MEPs to represent us at the EU.

Who can't enact laws, only vote on those made by the EU.

So they can also vote against them and lobby alternatives?

Maybe if the largest party representing the UK in the EU weren't there just to not bother turning up or steal pens we'd have more say in what the EU puts forward? (we can't have it both ways)

They can reject what's proposed but you can get round that by constantly rewording and resubmitting it.
Maybe if the largest party steps it up a bit, the EU will make sure we do leave soon?

Compare with the US. It's a similar size. You have two different parties. You can vote for the party that represents your interests. The President can be removed. The President is answerable to the people and needs to be elected.

I'm not saying that's a perfect model, but the EU should be answerable to the electorate.

Do you not see the irony in that statement with what May's been doing here?

With regards to America, I don't see Trump leaving the white House any time soon and there's more than enough negativity, and legal issues, levelled at him.  Unfortunately, no democratic process is perfect.

The EU is answerable to the electorate, via the people we elect to represent us there.

Yep. I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous statement.

He has to be re-elected. Assuming he wants to be. He also has a party behind him who could turn on him. He came up with a lot of policies he thought would get him elected. He was elected. He will be judged on what he delivers by the electorate. Also the same electorate previously but Obama there and could put someone similar there again.

I didn't say it was perfect but it is more democratic. Those in charge are answerable.

So when Juncker actually had a member of his union leave for the first time ever, there was a leadership challenge?

When the EU actually had a member state vote to leave, it gave them pause on their direction?

If the UK government brought in this legislation, would you feel any differently?
