Balicom have emailed me and offered to refund and uplift but as I am quite keen on using this now, especially having seen the beast I would prefer a swap out - or even a PF50/60 if they are fault free

Can the unit be opened and the incoming mains cable connection reversed inside?  Assuming of course the cable is block terminated and not soldered.

Yes, there are 10 small screws to hold the top panel on and 2 screws connecting the wires to the main circuit board inside. It's a 2 minute fix and I've just verified it on my unit.

The circuit breaker is on the live, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Just come off the phone after a 30 minute conversation with techincal support in India, and despite some language and technical misunder standings and we reset two units (hold the reset button in for 15 seconds disconnect mains power and then reconnect) and guess what - they both showed a fault. He has promised to speak to some one to get my 3 units replaced so I wait now. Hopefully

That said, it's shocking (potentially very shocking- sorry, couldn't help myself) that the unit is shipped with faulty wiring. I think a strongly worded letter to Belkin might be in order. I wonder if they'll give me a PF50 in exchange as I much prefer the switching and delay options on that unit?

Was there any markings on the board to suggest that the power lead was connected incorrectly ?

Good point. Has anybody confirmed that it is definitely the plug that is incorrectly wired and not the 2 wires connected to the board incorrectly?

I have just tested the leads inside and 0V from the live wire to earth and 240V from neutral to earth so it looks like it definitely is the plug as previously stated. How strange!

So, the choice is a 2 minute fix but this bypasses the circuit breaker in the unit; a new, correctly wired plug on the end of the power cord; or we wait and see what Belkin say.
