I provided the link where you can get the dataset, the UK drops down when you take private out, I don't think private schools have a problem supplying pens

Different countries have different running costs, staff, supplies etc... a ££ figure means nothing without this.

What you also need to consider is there are 2 major costs added to the Education budget within the last couple of years. 30 hour preschool has to come out of this figure as does the childcare tax credits which replaced the employer voucher scheme. You also need to factor inflation

I have provided an example both personally and via an article of how funding is effecting  education. There are literally 1000s of articles plus the opinions of teaching staff around the country. So they are all wrong and you are right...

But it is pretty much everyone you'd want to be compared to.

The total figure is totally comparable between countries. Just as the similar method the OECD used for measuring health spending provided a fair and comparable international measure - and showed we pay more than the OECD and eu-15 averages incidentally.

Different countries have different elements of their education (and health) spending provided by the state or private sector.

The OECD provides a fair method of measuring spending that accounts for this.

It doesn't mean nothing. It's just inconvenient for your argument.

Unless you can show that our costs are significantly higher. Do we overpay our teachers? Have marble bathrooms in our schools?
