Perhaps if Amir Ahmed had received appropriate sex education as a child, he might have figured out how to make children by now.

I totally agree, those backwards, mainly evangelical protestants Christians where a majority believe homosexuality should be discouraged, abortion should be illegal, oppose gay marriage have all the advantages that a rich, scientifically advanced first world country provides but have the morality and ethics of more akin to people in the 19th century.

He has a son.

His son goes to Nansen Primary which was one of five schools put into special measures in 2014 during a scandal in Birmingham known as "Trojan Horse".

I guess you didn't spot that I was linking two seperate stories - one about Birmingham UK and one about Birmingham Alabama which have just passed legislation to ban abortion.

Where does this end though?

SteakAndCake Publish time 26-11-2019 00:28:31

If the parents get their way, it doesn't end. We end up with another generation of repressed, conservative parentsunable to discuss the realities of homosexuality with their children because it makes them feel uncomfortable. These parents then pass on their views that "different = wrong".This continues the cycle of marginalising the homosexual minorities and increases the likelihood of hate crime as it becomes easy to beat somebody when you believe their very existence is an insult to your god, your religion, your culture, and by extension, your own identity.

Ok so you bring a totally different story into it this particular topic. Hmmm ok. Not saying it is not correct but it really doesn’t help the conversation.

I thought it was particularly relevant to the discourse considering we are talking about the impact of conservative religious beliefs impacting and resisting attempts to engender equality in our communities.
i.e it provides some balance in the fact that it is not just one religion that is adverse to equality for women, homosexuals or other ideas that contradict their beliefs, even in the modern wealthy western nations.

The US and in particular southern states like Alabama are notorious for their desire to interfere and restrict education.
